| Church was great today! I love seeing my friends, hearing from God and worshipping! Saleim preached, "Expect Goodness from God". It was a good message and it was encouraging. I love the Lord and see goodness from His hand! | | |
| I had a good conversation with Wes this morning on our way to church. I told him Grandma is coming to town today. He said that Grandma isn't that fun to talk to, he likes her and she is nice, but she's not "fun". I told him that I thought he was old enough now to understand something - "it's not always about you". I just let that statement hang there for him. He thought for a few moments and said, "I get it." I reminded him of how often I have adults compliment me on how he is so good about talking to them. He always has something interesting to say and he knows how to listen and converse with people of all ages. It's a gift. I asked him to show some interest and be the awesome kid he is when my mom comes to town. He agreed. I love Wes - he's a great kid! | | |
| Yes, you read my title correctly, that's The Bog, (not the blog). Saturday morning was a work day, and boy did Wes and I work. First, I weeded the flower beds while he mowed, next we tackled The Bog, together. Jerry is getting an early Father's Day gift. The Bog is clean!! Only my husband can truly appreciate the back-breaking labor that this requires. Wes and I stood out in the heat and we cleaned every last plant out of The Bog. Wes was quite a trooper, though he did moan a bit and I kept having to call him back to work. I used the spade to break up the tubers and bulbs while he pulled the plants out. We both dug in the rocks and mud - yuck! Finally, the moment of truth came. I plugged in the pump and . . . it worked!! The water began flowing! I had Wes plant a couple of the irises back in the bog. He couldn't figure out why we were putting plants back in after we had just spent two hours pulling them out. I think the best idea is to keep up with The Bog instead of letting it get out of control! The pond is starting to clear up and I'm going to have to get a few more plants for it, but it looks so good!! I'm not goint to turn on the waterfall, though, that's easy and I'll let Jerry do it when he gets home! Wes and I celebrated our hard work by staying home for pizza and a movie - War of the Worlds. | | |
| On Friday I sent the van in for an oil change, tire rotation and brake check. The brakes were reallly squeaking and I thought, "This sounds serious, we've got to get the van in!" The phone call from our friend and mechanic, Steve, was not at all what I thought it would be. . . the good news - the brakes are great! They squeak, but no big deal, plenty of life left. Now you know it's coming, the bad news. The van needs all kinds of work. Steve let me know what really needed to be done right away and what could wait. The van has to last us, so I told Steve to fix what really needed it and to make a list of everything else. I'll show the list to Jerry when he gets home. The Jeep goes in on Monday . . . let's hope it fares better! | | |
| The June bugs are out. I hear them on the windows. They want to fly into my hair. I really hate bugs that crunch! I don't want them in my hair! | | |
